Billson Trucks

Built to world-class engineering standards in less than nine months by Grinaker/LTA, it is the most advanced truck repair and maintenance facility of its kind in Southern Africa.

The management objective of Billson Trucks is to provide a rapid and cost-effective service to its clients, assuring them of minimum off-road downtime for their transport investments.

The new Billson Trucks Centre is located on the Deal Party/Burman Road interchange. The modern building complex is an aesthetically pleasing advertisement to all passing motorists and is a credit to the engineering excellence of the Eastern Cape.

It consists of the following facilities:

• Main security entrance and exit control gatehouse situated on Ries Road
• Combined main double-storey admin office, sales centre and client services main section, facing Burman Road and the N2 freeway totalling 600 m2
• New Volvo and UD Truck Agency sales centre
• Large multi-lane drive through truck inspection, major repairs through to maintenance services section totalling +/- 2,000 m². Partly serviced by a gantry crane for engine and heavy parts replacement
• A separate general preparations workshop facility totalling approximately 900 m²
• Rapid new parts service counter. Parts receiving, distribution and secure storage facility totalling +/- 500 m²
• Large 360-degree surrounding hardstand driveway with multi-lane parking facility under secure high-bay security lighting as well as external CCTV security surveillance cameras
• Green environmental design cost-saving installation comprising solar and rainwater harvesting systems, requiring only minimum on-grid services support. The complex is wheelchair/disability-friendly
• Modern computerised truck brake testing and in-position repairs lane
• Sunken service pit lanes with fume exchange installation
• Natural lighting and ventilation. Fire protection-compliant
• Emergency on-the-road repairs as well as onsite overnight accommodation facility support for drivers while their trucks are being repaired
