PROJECT

The new Centre for Creative Learning was designed as a multi-use facility focusing on creative arts and ceramics and including robotics. Designed at a comfortable scale for juniors, it fits in with the campus context and links to the former art classroom, which has been upgraded to include a pottery studio and kiln as well as sports changerooms. The roof was designed to be solar PV panel-ready and a heat pump has been installed. The facility is a key venue for the annual National Children’s Arts Festival hosted at the school.

The upgrade of the classrooms features the opening up of formerly inward-focused traditional classrooms to create external learning and break-away spaces, facilitating new ways of learning. Large stack-away doors were incorporated, class storerooms incorporated, verandas added and an outdoor amphitheatre and adventure area was constructed under the trees. Teachers are thrilled with the upgrades and active boys have a varied environment that is conducive to modern learning.
