Welcome to Thembela Architects, a comprehensive design and construction management service, where expertise, experience, local know-how and architectural excellence converge.
Thembela Architects – Design that matters.
Founded in 2000, we are a company of highly experienced, reliable and professional architects. Together, the founding members of Thembela Architects all have over 30 years of experience in the building industry.
The core of our business philosophy revolves around providing a total inception-to-completion service to our clients. Our consistent starting point is to design buildings of excellence that meet and go beyond the financial and other demands of our clients. Where possible, we always incorporate energy efficiency, sustainability and passive solar projects into our designs.
We are fully versed in the world of property development, and we understand your needs and involve ourselves in every aspect of your project. After all, outstanding management of the building process is the only way to guarantee that projects are completed by deadline and within budget… and that is where we excel. Our approach has enabled us to build lasting relationships with our clients, many of whom have been with us since our inception. Additionally, we maintain a notably low turnover rate among our staff.
Africa is a fast-developing continent with very specific needs and challenges. If you are looking to both benefit from and contribute to this rapidly emerging world, then your very best option is to take that step hand-in-hand with seasoned experts, Thembela Architects.
For over 30 years, Thembela Architects has committed itself to a wide range of commercial projects, including filling stations, business premises and service centres.

We have all the expertise required for cleanroom solutions, including highly specialised containment, manufacturing and services facilities.
Thembela Architects excels in public works projects, including swimming pools, police stations and courts as well as other government facilities.
Thembela Architects knows exactly what is required for specialised educational projects, including university science centres, classrooms and labs and libraries.
For more than three decades, Thembela Architects has worked on an extensive array of residential projects for developers and private clients alike.
In his capacity as managing director, Andrew works hand-in-hand with our financial manager, Denise Terblanche, handling office admin and financial management and reporting. Denise has an expert skillset when it comes to government payment certificates, together with a vast amount of data at her fingertips in that field, as well as for projects that require multiple certifications and direct payment administration. Andrew and Denise can always rely on our office administrator, Yvette Vockerodt, for general admin work and tender submissions.
When not helping us keep everything up and running, Denise is closely involved with her local church and has run many Two Oceans Marathons, while Yvette is an animal-lover and volunteer for the Animal Welfare Society and enjoys cooking and sports.
Debbie Goliath is our go-to person at the reception desk and also handles general admin and project minutes. Outside of work, she loves to cook and attend family gatherings, and has a deep love for the performing arts. Debbie is ably assisted by Yvette Vockerodt.
